Ingrid Jeanette Gjerpen was born in Norway on September 19, 1918. She came to the United States when she was three with her family through Ellis Island. Ingrid grew up in New Britain, CT with her mother Inga, her father Otto, her brothers Karl and Larry, and her sisters Marit and Ruth.
Ingrid met William Davies in 1940, while she and Bill were dating he was serving in WW2. She traveled to what bases she could to be near him, but mostly stayed in CT. From CT they moved to Winchester MA, had children and moved to Reading MA and in 1956 moved to Holliston, MA where they raised their three children. William Davies passed away in 1981. Ingrid stayed in Holliston until 1983 when she moved to Norfolk to live with her oldest son and his family. She lived there until her death at 88 in 2007.
According to her daughter, she would say she remembered the midnight sun in Norway and the Northern Lights.
