January 13, 1939 Friday

Well this may have been an unlucky day for some people but I had a marvelous time. Got all dressed up in my black dress with pearls- black hat with veil and black pumps and etc (got loads of nice compliments). Dot, Ginny, and I met Ev down by the bus stop. Took a bus to Hartford, where we met Karin. Then we went to the Bond for supper (or do they call it dinner?) It was wonderful and such service! Of course we all behaved our very best and all went smoothly. I had = menu for future reference: Fruit Cup, Creamed Tomato Soup - Breaded Veal Cutlet - French Fries and Lettuce Salad, Apple Pie a La Mode and Coffee - So good. Then we went to the State. Oh yes when we came out it was snowing - lots of snow!! Tommy Dorsey* was marvelous and we saw Jane Withers* too, shes cute. We had to leave before T.D. was over. He was on for 2 hours!! He broadcasted. Karin and I took the bus through Belvidere, got home a little after 12:00. What a day!
